dandelion ‘latte’

There’s no doubt about it: I am coffee crazy. I love it in the morning, the afternoon, and even after dinner. For me, it is as much about the ritual and routine as it is the taste. I find myself craving the dark, bitter taste of espresso and haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement.

For most people, there’s nothing wrong with a cup of coffee in the morning. It’s always best to try to find a high-quality, organic variety and stick with a cup. Just a cup. For coffee addicts like myself, this can be hard. I would get a jolt of caffeine in the morning, and a few hours later would experience a blood sugar crash… which led to another cup of coffee. I could never seem to get balanced: I was either wired or totally worn out. I was also concerned that the acidic effects of excess coffee consumption was affecting my mineral absorption – and leading to other food cravings: like sugar and fatty foods.

Sure, I’ve tried all of the herbal coffee replacements – but they never really did the trick. Until I discovered DandyBlend. I was skeptical when I ordered my first bag, but was pleasantly surprised. It’s made of roasted roots and grains and is rich, full-bodied and totally curbs my coffee cravings. Even better? It’s loaded with trace minerals and dandelion root is touted for its detoxifying and blood purifying qualities. You just dissolve a teaspoon (I tend to use a tablespoon since I like my coffee strong!) in hot water and enjoy.

I recently gave out some samples and shared this ‘latte’ recipe with participants in my ‘Delicious Detox’ series. I think I may have won over a few converts.
